Amanda Judd Starnes Inman

Amanda Judd Starnes Inman, 86, of Hickory, NC, passed away on February 14, 2026. Born on October 16, 1939, in Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Judd and Beth Vance Judd. Her family moved from Mexico, living in Utah and Arizona before settling in Reno, NV. She met her first husband in Reno, where he was serving in the military. They married, moved to his hometown of Granite Falls, NC, and had 2 children.

Amanda later remarried and moved to Hickory, where she worked for many years as a medical assistant for the late Dr. Henry Abernethy. She cherished her co-workers and the many patients she met and cared for throughout her career.

Following her retirement, she loved to cook, work in her garden, and travel out west to visit her family. Above all, she treasured time spent with her three grandchildren, whom she adored and delighted in spoiling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband, William F. Inman; her brothers, Hugh, Robert, and Melvin; her sister, Mary; and her step-daughter, Marian Inman.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Starnes of the home; her son, Brian Starnes of Granite Falls; her grandchildren, Noah Starnes of Charlotte, Olivia & Blair Starnes of Newton; her sisters, Linda Hunt (Bill) of Chapel Hill, NC and Mabel Jeppson (Lawrence) of Tooele, Utah; her first husband, Jerry R. Starnes of Granite Falls; her former daughter-in-law, Mimi Starnes of Newton; her step-children, Gail McComb (Harry), John Inman, and Robert Inman(Crystal); and many beloved nieces and nephews across the country.

Memorial service arrangements will be announced at a later date.
