Bessie Stilley

Bessie Ruth Smith Stilley, 59, of Conover passed away Friday, January 5, 2024, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born January 22nd, 1964 she was the daughter of the late Joseph Smith and Thelma Christine Smith. Bessie was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Bessie loved everyone and everyone loved her. Many people adopted her as their "mom" and "grandma" and she claimed them also. Bessie enjoyed Walkin' Roll events and loved being a part of the Walkin' Roll Activities League family. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband Wilbur Stilley of Conover; a daughter Mary Garren (Scotty) of Conover; two sisters Ann Doll of Grantsboro and Patricia Phillips (Beno) of Granite Falls; three grandchildren Lily Garren, Jaiden Garren, and Zachary Garren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother J. Charles Smith.

A memorial service will be held at Bessie's home church at 11:00 AM on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Harvest Community Church at 2160 29th Avenue Drive NE, Hickory, NC 28601.
