Betty Jean Knight

Betty Jean Knight, 71, of Newton, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Born on October 25, 1954, she was the daughter of the late William Bedwell and Mary Young Bedwell.

Betty was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She was a faithful member of Discovery Church in Newton. She had a special love for cooking and caring for others—no one ever left her home hungry, as she found happiness in feeding and gathering those she loved.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 55 years, Kenneth Knight Sr.; her daughter, Tina Mingus (Michael); her son, Kenneth Knight Jr.; her sisters, Norma Turner (Hardaway) and Angel Edwards; and her three cherished grandchildren, Ashton Knight, Hannah Mingus, and Ellison Knight.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Knight; her brothers, Charles, William, Kenneth, and Leeroy Bedwell; and her sisters, Shirley Laine, Ruth Edwards, and Kathy Bedwell.
