Betty Jolley Rector

Heaven gained the sweetest angel on February 17th, 2026 when Betty Jolley Rector of Bethlehem went to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born October 23rd, 1935 to the late Charlie and Lillie Darty Jolley.

She was known by many names which includes “The Doll Lady”, “Ms. Betty”, and her absolute favorite; “Grandmommie”. Betty was a staple in the toy store section of Clark Tire for forty one years and was able to be a blessing to so many children and families during that time. She was also an avid doll collector and founded the Catawba Valley Doll Club with best friend Ms. Joan Ashton.The club had long standing membership for thirty years. Betty was a lifetime member of Faith United Church of Christ in Brookford, North Carolina, and helped her church in any way she could. She loved her backyard and all the birds, which is evident by the amount of bird feeders and bird baths located throughout the property. She loved her flowers and was sure to store many plants safely at Bethlehem Greenhouse for the winter months. Grandmommie’s house was the epitome of hospitality. You were always welcome around her table. She was even known to feed the entire Lenoir Rhyne women’s soccer team for “Sunday Supper” without any advance notice! Grandmommie was a true treasure and leaves behind an immeasurable legacy of love.

Those that have preceded her in death include her parents, infant brother “Little Billy”, her grandmother Mamie Adams who was the love of her life; her loving husband William Jerry Rector, daughter Leisa Setzer, and grandson Shea Setzer.

Those that are left to cherish her memory include her son William Ricky Rector and wife Evonda. Her brother Bobby Jolley and wife Peggy. Son-in-law Allen Setzer. Grandchildren; Robert Setzer and wife Chasity, W.J. Rector and wife Alyson, Elisha Speagle and husband Michael, Jenna Reed and Grandmommie’s special boyfriend Wayne Reese, and Grace-Anne Rector. Great-grandchildren include Dylan and Allison Speagle; Cassie Patterson and husband Jacob (son Jonah), Katie and Carlie Setzer, Faith Buchanan, Caroline Reed, Wyatt and Waylon Rector. Nieces; Tamara Good and husband Joe, Christy Tellysh and husband Jim. Great nieces; Hailey Baker and husband Timmy (daughter Afton) and Lilli Tellyish. Last but certainly not least her sweet four legged baby “Princess Bella”.

These are just some of the ones left to remember Betty. She touched so many lives that it would take an entire volume of books to list those with lasting memories of “The Doll Lady”, “Ms. Betty”, and “Grandmommie”.

The family will have a private graveside service.
