In Loving Memory of Curtis Ray Shook

Curtis Ray Shook, 64, of Maiden, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025. Born on May 28, 1961, he was the son of the late Jerry Shook and Betty Parker. Curtis was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Curtis had a true love for fishing and racing. When he was feeling good, he loved to break out his dance moves, and he was known for the way he could make everyone laugh with his jokes. He lived life his own way, right up until the very end, and his family takes comfort in knowing he is now reunited in heaven with those he loved and missed so deeply.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Sherry Lail Shook; his daughters, Cassey Shook (fiancé Jonathan Helms) and Mylenda Shook; his grandchildren, Cameron Helms, Jaydon Pruitt, Aleigha Pruitt, Lexi Pruitt, Kira Cox, and Kingston Shook; his brothers, Adam Lutz (wife Dawn Yauger Lutz) and Tony Shook; his sister-in-law, Amy Shook; nieces, Kelley Shook Moore (husband Chris) and Alisha Andersen; cousin, Terry Lemons (wife Cindy); great-nephews, Zachary Shook (wife Kaylee), Corey Caudle, and Landen Moore; great-nieces, Maddie Moore, Emery Moore, Sunnie Moore, Taylor Shook, and Jordan Andersen; as well as many other great-great-nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Setzer; and his cousin, Leroy Miller.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Caring Cremations Life Celebrations and Funerals, 609 Highland Ave SE, Hickory, NC 28602.

The family wishes to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this time. Curtis’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
