Cynthia Ellen Curtis, 68, of Hickory, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born on March 6, 1957, in Ohio, she was the youngest child of Gordon Willard Miller and Rose Ellen Miller.
Cynthia was a proud graduate of Greenon High School, Class of 1975, and went on to earn her associate degree from Clark State Community College. She devoted over 30 years of her life to helping others as a dedicated medical laboratory technician.
Cynthia was not only a loving mother and grandmother—she was a warrior in every sense. In her later years, she faced numerous medical challenges, including multiple surgeries and heart procedures. Despite all the pain, she showed incredible resilience and unwavering strength. Her strength was a light to those around her, and even in the hardest times, she always made sure her loved ones were okay.
She is survived by her daughter, Jillian Curtis, and fiancé Jacob Fuentes; three grandchildren, Nora Curtis, Oliver Fuentes, and Huxley Fuentes; her two brothers, Steve Miller (Connie) and Dennis Miller (Kathy); and her aunt, Patrica Croy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Rose Miller; her aunt, Catherine Ellis and husband Leroy Ellis.
Cynthia’s love, courage, and selflessness touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.
