David Wayne Dyer

David Wayne Dyer, age 69, of Conover, North Carolina, passed away on August 5, 2026. Born on June 19, 1957, in Rock Island County, Illinois, David was the youngest of eight boys born to Florence Delores (Woodward) Dyer and Floyd Wilbur Dyer.

A lifelong thrill seeker, David climbed towers, cliffs, and mountains without a harness, explored caves, and loved off-roading in his Jeep in his younger years. He was a passionate softball player and an avid photographer. David traveled extensively throughout the United States and was never one to sit still. If he wasn’t going somewhere, he was already planning his next adventure. He loved to dance and carried a lifelong passion for music. In quieter moments, he challenged his mind with crosswords, Sudoku, and other puzzles.

For 18 years, David served with dedication as the resident managing director of Lake Hickory RV Resort in Conover, North Carolina, where he was known for his commitment and care for the community.

David is survived by his fiancé, Laura Jane Uhls; his daughters, Lisa Wisdom (Anders) and Ashley Henderson (Michael); his son, Floyd Dyer (Olivia); his grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Gabrielle, James, Floyd Jr., and Tessa; his brothers, Dewey, Guy, Jeffrey, and Robert Dyer; and more than 25 nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Delores Dyer; his father, Floyd “Bub” Wilbur Dyer; and his brothers Floyd “Dick” Dyer, Carlos Dyer, and Timothy Dyer.

A small celebration of life for David will be hosted, with details to be shared with friends and family once plans are finalized.
David lived life fully, always seeking the next horizon. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
