David Carroll Ramp, 84, of Hickory passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born February 20th, 1939 he was the son of Horace George Ramp Sr. and Lena May Treadway Ramp. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1978 where he retired as a Navy Chief - NCC from the USS Eisenhower, also a Plank Owner of the USS Eisenhower. He will be greatly missed by his family.
He is survived by his wife Judith C. Ramp of Hickory, NC; three daughters Kimberley Rimiller (George) of Hickory, Paulette Frantz (Tommy) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Diane Martin (Thomas) of Virginia Beach, VA; two grandchildren Thomas Frantz (Gabrielle) of Barhamsville, VA and Lauren Coulsting (Donald) of Norfolk, VA; four great-grandchildren Bryson Coulsting, Kinsley Coulsting, Asher Frantz, and Isla Frantz; a brother Horace Ramp, Jr.; three nieces Jane Stratton (Jeff), Rebecca Simpson (Jim), and Dawna Ruella; and several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Horace and Lena Ramp.
The family is honoring David's wish with a private cremation and interment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
