David Dwight Strickland

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of David Dwight Strickland, who peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 4:00 a.m. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and faithful servant of God.

For 46 wonderful years, he was the beloved husband of Judith Wolfe Strickland. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering love.

He earned an Associate's Degree from the University of Evansville in Indiana before answering the call to serve his country. During the Vietnam War, he proudly served in the United States Navy as a Medical Corpsman, caring for those who served alongside him.

Following his military service, he dedicated his professional life to environmental work as an Environmental Superintendent. His career took him to 18 different states, where he worked as a subcontractor on military projects. He was respected for his knowledge, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence.

He leaves behind three beloved children and their spouses: Krista and Todd Porter of O'Fallon, Illinois; Amanda and Josh Euper of Connelly Springs, North Carolina; and Michael and Melissa Strickland of Roanoke, Virginia.

He was the proud grandfather of 13 cherished grandchildren: Christopher, Ashley, Todd Jr., Bradley, Braxton, Isabella, Ashlyn, Briella, Conor, Liam, Mary-Margaret, Rosie, and Amelia. Each grandchild brought him immense joy, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.

Outside of work and family, he embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved playing high school and college basketball, playing guitar and singing lead vocals with his band, The Cyntaurs, driving his cherished Chevrolet Silverado, deer hunting, and spending time with his little dog, Daisy Mae. Above all else, his greatest love was his faith in God, which guided his life and gave him strength through every season.

He will be remembered for his service to his country, his devotion to his family, his generous heart, and the steadfast faith that shaped his life. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply and in the countless lives he touched. Though he will be greatly missed, those who knew and loved him find comfort in the promise of eternal life with him.
