Decoda Austin Whittaker

Decoda Austin Whittaker, 31, of Vale, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at his home. Born September 20, 1993, he was the son of Pamela Denise Perkins and William Randolph Whittaker.

Decoda will be remembered for his warm heart, quick wit, and the way he could make others laugh and smile. He had a deep love for music, enjoyed playing the guitar and video games, and especially enjoyed trips to the beach. His laughter, kindness, and caring spirit touched everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Kylee Whittaker; his mother, Pamela Perkins (James) of Vale; his father, William "Billy" Whittaker of Tennessee; his sister, Lakyn Ruiz (Adam) of Newton; his two brothers, Brandon Lopez of Vale, and Dylan Brown (Joseleen) of Lenoir; his nephew and niece, Jacob Ruiz, Kaelynn Ruiz, and Isla Brown; his aunt, Beverly Perkins; his uncle, Dallis Perkins (Joey); the mother of Kylee, Zoee Smith; his half-sisters, Laila Whittaker of Tennessee, Alexis Stermer (Colby) of Louisiana; his half-brothers, Will Whittaker (Breyanna) and Blake Whittaker both of Tennessee; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Randal and Deborah Perkins.

Though his time here was far too short, Decoda’s love, laughter, and memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

The celebration of life will be Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 4:00 PM in the Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Road, Newton, NC, 28658. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM before the service.
