Donald Wayne Huffman, 75, of Hickory went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Carolina Caring Hospice. Born May 17th, 1947 he was the son of Donald E. Huffman and Minnie Mae Stilley Huffman. He served 4 years as a Corpsman in the United States Navy with service in Vietnam. He worked as a substance abuse counselor at Brandon House in Manteno, IL and lifetime member of the Salvation Army Church. He was commander of the American Legion Post 85 in Kankakee, IL for 3 years and a lifetime member of the VFW in Momence, IL. He loved his family and never met a stranger. He was an avid Cubs fan and loved to tell jokes and fish.
His wife June Huffman of Hickory, two daughters, Deanna G. O’Neill and husband William R. O’Neill of Newton, NC, and Stephanie A. Huffman of Clarksville, TN, brother Herb and Janet Huffman of FL, sisters Betty Lou and Dan Kavaney of Mesa, AZ, Donna Jean and Lavern Learned of Bradley, IL, and Mary Ann and Spencer Barnard of Bourbonnais, IL, grandkids Faith O’Neill, Reid O’Neill, Phillip Huffman, Mathew Huffman, Robert Huffman, Amanda and Armando Leon and Brittney Huffman, great granddaughters Grace Leon and Savannah Leon and numerous nephews and nieces survive him. Proceeded and rejoicing in heaven with his parents Donald and Minnie Mae Huffman, Sister Ina Mae Lamb, and brothers Raymond Smith, James Smith, and George Smith.
