Dora Shively

Dora Ann Saunders Shively, 72, of Newton passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at Abernethy Laurels. Born February 20th, 1951 she was the daughter of the late Winborn Wiley Saunders and Evelyn Ann Moss Saunders. Dora enjoyed spending time near the ocean, dancing to beach music, and visiting her grandchildren. She was known for her warm personality, constant smile, and infectious laugh.

She is survived by a daughter Sally Osborne (Jeff) of Hickory, NC and their children Jack and Miles; two sons Ernest Rhyne IV (Francesca) of Dumfries, VA and their children Gabriella and Preston; and Patrick Rhyne of Waynesville, NC and his son Harrison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister Jane Saunders Borders; and two brothers Roger Saunders and Steve Saunders.

A visitation and private burial will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
