Dorothy Ann “Dottie” Reed Smith, 79, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at 9:32 AM in Mooresville, North Carolina. Dottie was born on August 10, 1946, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Elmer Reed and Hope Weremay.

Known for her sense of humor and strong Rhode Island accent, Dottie had a gift for bringing smiles to those around her. She especially treasured time spent with her family and her beloved dog Vinny, and enjoyed traveling and creating memories along the way. Her laughter and sarcasm will be missed by all who knew her.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Reed and Hope Weremay; her beloved spouse, Howard Smith; her brother, John DiMaria; and her daughter, Rhonda Reed.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Brandy Illingworth and Holly Green; her cherished grandchildren, Brittany Hines and Dylan Travis; and her great-grandson, Corbyn Travis, along with extended family and friends who will hold her memory close to their hearts.

Dottie’s legacy lives on through the love she shared, the laughter she spread, and the family she cherished.
