Eric Scott Dugger

Eric Scott Dugger, 34, of Newton, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Born July 14th, 1991, he was the son of Sanford Dale Dugger Jr. and Karen Diane Dugger.

He was happiest with a fishing pole in hand or out on his motorcycle, enjoying the simple things of life. Eric had a gift for bringing laughter wherever he went, cracking a joke and a smile. He was kindhearted and generous—always the first to lend a hand, give you the shirt off his back, or drop everything to help someone in need. His humor, kindness, and selflessness will be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Karen Dugger of Newton; his father, Sanford Dugger Jr. (Lori) of Statesville; his brother, Steven Dugger (Holly) of Hickory; his aunts, Gloria Anderson (Tim) of Tennessee, Elena Kaylor of Iron Station, Tammy Winkler (Mark) of Hickory, Donna Elliot (Roy) of Conover, and Bobbie Jo Dugger of Newton; his uncle, Donald Rash Jr. of Newton; numerous cousins; his maternal grandmother, Flossie Rash of Newton; his paternal grandmother, Jewell Moore of Hickory; his special friend, Kevin Burr; and numerous other close friends.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Donald Rash Sr.; his paternal grandfather, Sanford Dugger Sr.; and his aunt, Sheila Chapman.

The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
