Ernest "Ernie" Richard Cluckey

Ernest "Ernie" Richard Cluckey, 89, of Morganton, passed away Friday, October 10, 2025, at his home. Born July 8, 1936, in South Lyon, MI, he was the son of the late Earl Edward Cluckey and Alta Florence Cluckey.

Ernie enjoyed the outdoors and traveling, was an excellent bowler, and loved watching westerns and baseball. He also liked listening to country and bluegrass music. He was an enthusiastic rock miner and gem cutter.

He was married for 63 years to his beloved wife, Loretta (Reich) Cluckey, and had two children, Kristie Cluckey and Tim Cluckey.

He is survived by his son, Timothy Andrew Cluckey; eight grandchildren: Shannon, Toni (Jamie), Elisabeth (Zack), Riley (Corey), Amber (Vince), Dylan, Troy, and Alana; eleven great-grandchildren: Nathan (Kayla), Cory, James (Malia), Hayden (Dessie), Venna, Ka’an, Waylen, Cameron, Peyton, Isabella, and Finley; and five great-great-grandchildren: Novalie, Desmond, James, Roman, and Elias.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Edward Cluckey (June 26th, 1905 - August 12th, 1966) and Alta Florence Dennis (June 1st, 1907 - February 23rd, 1994); all five of his siblings, Irene Sarah (Cluckey) Hoffman (July 8th, 1930 - August 5th, 2018), Arnold Cluckey (September 26th, 1932 - July 15th, 1987), Carl E. Cluckey (October 22, 1934, - December 14, 2016), Dale Cluckey (March 17, 1942 - October 22, 2011), Shirley Mae (Cluckey) Canfield (October 28, 1944 - September 14th, 2008); his wife, Loretta Jean Cluckey (January 2nd, 1940 - November 17th, 2021) and his daughter, Kristie Lee Cluckey (June 3rd, 1959 - July 16th, 2017).

The family will not be holding a memorial service at this time.
