Ervin Eugene Ricketts

Ervin Eugene Ricketts, 91, of Newton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Born December 27th, 1933, in Montgomery County, Maryland, he was the son of the late Wilke Carlton Ricketts and Gladys Leona Ricketts.

After graduating from Richard Montgomery High School, Ervin enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952. He proudly served during the Korean War and was later stationed in Huntsville, Alabama.

While in Huntsville, Ervin met and married Ruby Alice Clark. Together, they raised seven children and were blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

One of Ervin’s favorite memories he loved to share was from his time stationed in Huntsville. Having never attended a live football game before, he and several fellow soldiers were taken by the Alabama football coach to the stadium to watch a game. From that moment on, Ervin became a lifelong Alabama fan.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
