Eugene Clancy
July 14, 1952 – July 29, 2026
Eugene Clancy, lovingly known as Gene, passed away on July 29, 2026, at the age of 74. He was born on July 14, 1952, to Eugene Edward Clancy and Eloise Bushnell Holley.
Gene began his career in 1992 as an Appliance Manager with Applied Petroleum and retired in 2016 as a Design Project Manager with Stripes, where he had a passion for AutoCAD work. Throughout his career, Gene was an unassumingly assertive and valued asset in everything he accomplished for Susser Holdings Corp. His dedication, knowledge, and commitment to his work were evident throughout his many years of service.
Gene will always be remembered for the love he had for his family, his friends, and the simple joys that made life meaningful. Among his most anticipated and cherished traditions were the Clancy family reunions at the Frio. These annual gatherings brought together everything Gene loved most—family and friends, good food, dogs, babies, laughter, and plenty of fun. It was a time he looked forward to each year and treasured deeply.
While at home in Corpus Christi, Gene enjoyed spending time at the beach and cooking out with his blended family. He was rarely far from a dog or two, adding to the warmth and happiness of his home. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by the people and animals he loved.
To his children, Gene’s greatest gift as a father was that he always met each of them where they needed him most. He taught them responsibility, honor, and integrity through a love that was both steadfast and strong, allowing them to learn from their mistakes while never withholding his encouragement or his pride in the people they became. The values he instilled, the example he lived, and the unconditional love he gave will continue to guide Chad, Jessica, and Sean for the rest of their lives.
Gene is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Darlene Clancy; his children, Chad Clancy, Jessica Hatch, and Sean Clancy; and his stepchildren, Joshua Stamper, Elaine Greer, and Megan Brodsky.
He is also survived by his siblings, James Clancy (Peggy), Stephanie Cosby, Kathleen Clancy, Jaqueline Flemming (Dave), Jeanette Goebel (George), Bernadette Brown (Robert), Christine Nelson, Therese Arnold, Gregory Arnold (Sherrie), Stephen Arnold (Isabel), and Michelle Hicks (David), as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Edward Clancy; his mother, Eloise Clancy Arnold; his stepfather, Burton W. Arnold; and his brother, Dennis Clancy.
Gene leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to live on through the family gatherings, stories, laughter, and traditions he held so dear. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
On behalf of Darlene Clancy and her children, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who loved Gene and shared in the many wonderful memories of his life.
