Eva Foxworth Justice

Eva Foxworth Justice, 84, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Hobert Justice; her sister, Jean Roderiguez; and many family members, friends, and colleagues whose lives she touched through her years of service and compassion.

Eva was raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She received her B.S. degree from Meredith College and a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She dedicated her professional life to serving the people of North Carolina. She served as Special Projects Director for the State of North Carolina, where she oversaw investigations involving abuse and neglect and advocated for vulnerable individuals. Her responsibilities also included corporate compliance, policy management, and accreditation oversight, helping to ensure that state programs met required standards and provided quality services to those in need.

Her commitment to public service and the people of North Carolina was recognized in 2005 when Eva was awarded The Order of the Long Leaf Pine, one of the state’s highest honors for civilians. The award is presented to individuals with a proven record of extraordinary service to the state. This recognition was a fitting tribute to Eva’s dedication, integrity, and lifelong commitment to helping others.

Eva was preceded in death by her father, Francis Asbury Foxworth, and her mother, Bessie Pryce Foxworth.

Eva’s legacy of service, compassion, and advocacy will remain with all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
