Gerald Dean Randall

Gerald Dean Randall, 61, of Cherryville, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Atrium Health Lincoln. Born on January 8, 1964, he was the son of Caroline Mary McGinnis and the late Harold Dean Randall.

A gifted musician, Gerald’s life was filled with the joy of music and laughter. He spent over 40 years sharing his love for the guitar and was also talented on the piano and saxophone. Whether playing for others or simply enjoying the music himself, his passion for sound was a defining part of who he was. More than anything, Gerald cherished time with his family—especially his grandson, Grayson, who brought endless smiles to his days.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Joyce Randall; his daughter, Tabatha Lear and her husband Nicholas, and their son Grayson Lear, all of Myrtle Beach, SC; his mother, Caroline McGinnis of Lincolnton, NC; his brother, Jeffrey Randall and his wife Angela of Vale, NC; along with three nieces and two nephews.

In addition to his father, Gerald was preceded in death by his stepfather, Frank McGinnis.

The family will honor his memory with a private Celebration of Life.

Gerald’s warmth, love for life, and passion for music will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
