Gloria Mae Brown Brayson, 101, of Granite Falls, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Born on December 2, 1922, she was the beloved daughter of Millard F. Brown and Doris Cunningham Brown. She lived in Veazie, Maine for 101 years and recently moved to Granite Falls with her daughter.
A dedicated nurse by profession, Gloria found fulfillment in serving others, especially while volunteering with hospice. One of her favorite acts of service was greeting troops at the airport as they returned home from war, ensuring they felt welcomed and appreciated for their service.
Gloria’s family was the cornerstone of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She especially loved her church, First Assembly of God in Bangor, Maine, where she found comfort, community, and deep faith.
A true adventurer, Gloria had a passion for travel. Though she preferred to avoid airplanes, she did not let that stop her from exploring the country. She visited almost every state by Greyhound bus and continued her journeys until the remarkable age of 97.
She is survived by two daughters Doris Eliason Wood (Jim) of Peru, Indiana, and Judy Clark of Granite Falls, NC; two sons Larry Cormier (Bernice) of Exeter, Maine, and Jimmy Cormier (Joanne) of Puyallup, WA; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Alyce Smith; and a sister and brother.
Gloria will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched with her kindness, faith, and generosity. Her legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of many.
