Helen Elaine Templeton Pereida

Helen Elaine Templeton Pereida, 77, of Hickory passed away Monday, December 23, 2024, at Trinity Ridge. Born September 6th, 1947, she was the beloved daughter of the late Philip Andrew Templeton and Mary Jane Shepherd Templeton.  

Helen grew up in Hamptonville on her family’s farm, a place filled with fond memories and cherished moments for all who spent time there. She graduated from West Yadkin High School and later attended East Los Angeles College. Helen was also a gifted artist who expressed her creativity and passion through her work.

She is survived by her son, Steven Kelly Prevette of Lewisville; her daughter, Autumn Pereida Smith (Jeffrey Musshafen) of Hickory; her four sisters, Carolyn Templeton (Adrin Colville) of Calabash, Phyllis Payne (John) of Boone, Cynthia Ireland of Hamptonville, and Anita Pardue (Chris) of Hamptonville; her eight grandchildren, Zachry Prevette (Lee), Jacob Prevette, Matthew Madesky (Melanie), Ariel Campbell, Anastasia Church, Emma Prevette, Abraham Church, and Nix Prevette; her two great-grandchildren, Quinn Prevette and Archer Ray Madesky; the mother of four of her grandchildren, Sandra Madesky. Helen was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews who brought joy to her life.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Aubrey Templeton and her brother-in-law, Ralph Ireland.

The family would like to thank Carolina Caring Hospice, Trinity Ridge, and Geriatric Consultants for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Helen.

A memorial service will be at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Jenkins Funeral Home with Rev. Leo Jones-Morton officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM before the service in the Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Road, Newton, NC, 28658.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Yadkin Arts Council in honor of Helen's enduring passion for art.
