Irene Alcantar Sinohui

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Irene Sinohui was born on October 10, 1947, in Los Angeles, California. She passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on September 1, 2025, in Hickory, North Carolina. Irene had a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease and dementia. In her final moments, she was surrounded by her loving family.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Rodrigo Sinohui, who passed away on June 10, 2024. Together, they shared a life filled with love, family, and treasured memories. She is survived by her devoted children, Gina Mendoza and Anthony Mendoza, and by her cherished grandchildren, Jonathan Paez, Andrew Paez, and Victoria Mendoza, who brought her great joy and pride.

Irene retired from the Metropolitan Water District, where she dedicated many years of service. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, with some of her happiest memories made during vacations to Hawaii, Mexico, and Palm Springs. She will be remembered for her strength, love for her family, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her family will hold on to the beautiful memories they shared and the legacy of love she leaves behind.

Services to honor Irene’s life will be held at a later date at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, CA.

She will be forever loved and never forgotten.
