Jackie Denise Burns

Jackie Simmons Burns was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 15, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on June 4, 1960, into a large and loving family, Jackie’s vibrant spirit lit up every room she entered. A true firecracker, she was known for her boundless energy, determination, and tenacity, qualities that carried her through every season of life. Her work ethic was unmatched, and she poured her heart into everything she did, especially into loving and caring for her family, who were the center of her world.

Jackie was married to David "Eli" Wallace, with whom she shared many years of love and family. David remained a devoted companion throughout her illness and was by her side when she passed. She was later briefly married to Stanley "Bub" Burns, who preceded her in death. Together, Jackie and David raised their children and shared a lasting bond of friendship and devotion.

She is survived by her children, Joshua Crump (Carolyn), Mandi Johnson (Clayton), and Julia Wallace; and by her cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Milline, Joshua Adam Crump, and Aydan Johnson. She also leaves behind her sisters, Nancy Martin, Maria Hatton, and Pam Chester; her brothers Roger Chester (Marsha) and David Chester; her Uncle Doug Brunt; numerous nieces and nephews; and her honorary grandchildren Sophia Spurlin, Layni Spurlin, and Meila Burdette Spurlin, each a blessing and a source of joy.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Una and Jack Simmons; her brother Tony Chester; her granddaughter Jayden Olivia Johnson; her aunts Marie Brunt and Christine Chandler; and her chosen family, Penny Taylor and Barbara Hampton.

Jackie's love for her family was unwavering, and her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved so deeply. Her passion, strength, and kindness will be remembered and cherished always.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM at Harrisburg Baptist Church in Lenoir, North Carolina. The service will be officiated by Pastor Tony Harris.
