James Tony Brooks Sr.

James Tony Brooks Sr., 62, of Lenoir, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Lenoir Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born January 8th, 1963, he was the son of James Monty Brooks and Sylvia Brooks Neal.

He was an avid fisherman who found peace and joy on the water, especially when sharing those moments with his children. By trade, he was a dedicated restaurant manager, known for his strong work ethic and leadership. In his free time, he enjoyed collecting knives, singing and playing his guitar at church, and had a lifelong appreciation for motorcycles.

He is survived by his daughters, Chloe Brooks of Lansing and Cassandra of Gastonia; his sons, Tony Jr. of Gastonia, J.R. of Boone, and Dusty of Marion; his mother, Sylvia Neal of Mississippi; his sister, Teresa Potter of Boone; and his nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Monty Brooks.

The family will be holding a memorial service at a later date.
