James Larry Taylor

James Larry Taylor, of 200 Old Lumber Yard Road, Glen Alpine, passed away peacefully at Amorem in Valdese on Wednesday, February 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

James was born on April 20, 1950, in Huntsville, Alabama, to the late Frances Geraldine Roberts and James Lester Taylor.

James was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to providing for his family until his retirement. More than anything, he was a loving and devoted husband of 50 years to his beloved wife, Gloria A. Taylor, and a proud, caring father to his son, Nathan D. Taylor. His family was the center of his world, and the love he shared with them will continue to be cherished for generations.

James had a joyful spirit and a kind heart that touched everyone who knew him. He loved to travel and was an avid animal lover, never meeting an animal he didn't adore. Animals seemed to sense his gentle nature and were naturally drawn to him, returning the love and kindness he so freely gave. He found great happiness in playing the guitar and singing, filling the home with music and laughter. Known for his playful sense of humor, harmless pranks, and wonderfully corny jokes, James had a special gift for making others smile. His warmth, compassion, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

James is survived by his loving wife, Gloria A. Taylor; his son, Nathan D. Taylor; and his four sisters: Barbara Bourssard of Louisiana; Shirley Frances and her husband, Donald Frances, of Huntsville, Alabama; Carrie Dickinson of Florida; and Wanda Ricketts of Florida. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Ricketts, Eugene Ricketts, and Kenneth Ricketts.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in the beautiful memories James gave us. His love, kindness, laughter, unwavering devotion to his family, and love for every animal whose life he touched will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. We take comfort in the promise that he now rests in the eternal peace of Jesus Christ. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered every day.
