Jasper Trent Hughes

Jasper Trent Hughes, 69, of Maiden, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Carolina Caring Catawba Valley Hospice House. Born October 29th, 1956, he was the son of the late Ruthel Hughes and Margaret Hughes.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Faye Abernathy-Hughes of the home; his sister, Shelby Culbreth of York, SC; his brother, Danny Hughes (Kaye) of York, SC; his son, Josh Hughes of Washington state; his daughter, Mandy Hughes of Summerville, SC; his step-son, Nathan Dickson of Maiden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Hughes; his step-son, Matthew Smith; and his sister, Peggy LaFontine

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the special angels sent from God, Paige Laney and Sherri Reid, for the love and compassionate care shown during this time. They are also deeply thankful for the many calls, visits, prayers, and kind expressions of sympathy received throughout his illness.

The family will have a memorial service at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Lawing's Chapel Baptist Church, 4637 Lawing Chapel Church Road, Maiden, NC 28650.
