Jean Harrison Stinson, 81, of Hickory, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born April 25, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Pauline Harrison.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Jim Stinson of the home; her daughter, Kim Stinson of Hickory; her two grandchildren, Amelia Hawn and Ella Hawn, both of Hickory; her sisters, Rebecca Harrison of Bethlehem and Elizabeth Lowman (Tim) of Hickory; her brothers, Stephen Harrison of Hickory and Mark Harrison of Atlanta; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Ann Harrison.

A graduate of Claremont Central High School, she attended Brevard College, Woman's College of the University of North Carolina, and later, Catawba Valley Community College for accounting. She spent her career in accounting departments for various companies, retiring from Century Furniture in Hickory.

Jean was an avid reader, loved watching British mysteries, and had a great sense of humor. Above all, she cherished her husband, daughter, and grandchildren, and the time she shared with them. She was a kind soul who cared about others and advocated for equality for all.

At Jean’s request, there are no services scheduled. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to honor Jean’s memory is encouraged to donate to The American Heart Association or the not-for-profit entity of your choice.
