Jerome Locklear

Jerome Locklear, 80, of Hickory passed away peacefully Sunday, December 3, 2023, at his home. He was born November 4, 1943, in Robeson County, North Carolina.

Jerome had an extensive career in the furniture industry before his retirement in 2008.

Jerome lived a full and happy life filled with love and devotion to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will forever be remembered for the kindness and humbleness he exuded throughout his time on earth with us. He loved cars, old westerns, woodworking, and building things. He also loved to grill and spend time by the pool with his family and friends. He was a member at Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church and always enjoyed traveling and doing activities with the “Senior Stars” of his church family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Payne Locklear; a daughter, Heather Locklear; two sons, Scott Locklear; Chad Locklear (Crystal); and two grandchildren Aubrey Locklear, and Finn Locklear, all of Hickory, NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents Romie and Cleia Locklear; a sister Josephine; a brother Jerry; and a brother-in-law Pete Chavis.

A receiving will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church, 3320 Ninth Ave Drive NW, Hickory, NC, 28601. A Memorial Service will be held at the
church following the receiving at 12:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Senior Stars group at Winkler’s Grove Baptist Church in his name.
