John Clenon Worley

Nov 27, 1957 — Jun 5, 2026

John Clenon Worley, 68, of Claremont, passed away peacefully Friday, June 5, 2026, surrounded by his family at his home. Born November 27, 1957, he was the son of the late McKinley Clenon Worley and Catherine Plemmons Worley.

He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Despite facing numerous health challenges, he remained a resilient fighter who overcame many obstacles with admirable strength.

John spent much of his working life in the trucking industry and will be lovingly remembered for his warm spirit, his deep love for his family, and his passion for the open road. He lived for the freedom of traveling and discovering the country. Later in life, he became a fixture at the local flea market, selling his "treasures" and making several special friends.

Outside of work, he could usually be found in his element—whether he was camping, traveling, or working on one of his hands-on building projects. He poured his heart into his family and grandchildren, always ready to lend a helping hand and share his wisdom with those he loved. He touched the hearts of everyone he met and leaves behind a legacy of perseverance and love.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Hannah Worley of the home; his daughters, Amber Godwin (Jeremy) of Hickory and Emily Miller (Rashad) of Hickory; his step-children, Wesley Angel (Jennifer) of Conover, Jessica Ingram (Ronnie) of Newton, and Joshua Lipford of Conover; his grandchildren, Rayven Mason, Hayden Godwin, Brayden Godwin, Evan Angel, Hailynn Angel, Ryan Walker, Kaitlyn Kanipe, Mason Ingram, and Colby Ingram; his siblings, Elaine Payne, Kate Bohannon, Sue Wallace, Martha Underdown, and Mary Hopkins; and his fur babies, Maggie Lynn and Peanut.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Wesley Worley, Betsy Worley, and Walter Worley; and his beloved fur babies, Petey, Molly, and Tiny.

"For real this time, don't touch me, I am a going"—his family will love and miss him greatly.

There will be a receiving of family and friends from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Conover Downtown Park, 112 2nd Ave NE, Conover, NC 28613.
