Joyce Laura Yucis

Joyce Laura Yucis (née Lill), 87, of Hickory passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born August 30th, 1937, in Paterson, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Henry Lill and Helen Herman Lill.

Joyce had a deep love for music and a lifelong passion for dancing. She adored animals of all kinds and was known for her quick wit, sassy charm, and infectious sense of humor that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. People simply loved being around her. Crowned the “Queen of Paterson” at just 3 years old, Joyce’s beauty, both inside and out, shone brightly throughout her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherryl Holewka, and husband James; her son, Edward Yucis; her three grandchildren, Glen Westpy, Edward Yucis, and Rebecca Masterson; and her great-grandson, Keith Westpy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Helen Lill.
