Judy Clemons Brittain left this world to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 13, 2026, at Springs of Catawba Nursing Home in Hickory, North Carolina, after a long battle with a disabling illness.
Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Frances Clements; her father, Lewis D. Clements; her sister, Joyce L. Clemons; and her brother, Ricky L. Clemons.
She is survived by her sister, Mary F. (Clemons) Perry, and her nephew, Paul Clemons, both of Louisa County, Virginia.
Judy is also survived by her children, Tyler Brittain and Heather McCormick; her grandchildren, Kody McCormick and Gracie McCormick; and her great-granddaughter, Madelyn McCormick, all of the Hickory area of North Carolina.
Judy Clemons Brittain was born on October 28, 1953, in Louisa County, Virginia. She attended Mineral Grade School and graduated from Louisa County High School in 1971. She later moved to Maiden, North Carolina, where she worked for many years at Mohegan Mills.
She later moved to Richmond, Virginia, where she joined her local church and became active with the WINGS (Women in God's Service) ladies' group, helping organize fundraisers for those in need. She also joined the Cursillo Movement, promoting the Gospel and encouraging others to do the same. Judy worked with the Iretonettes, a women's group affiliated with Bishop Ireton Knights of Columbus Council 6189 in North Chesterfield, Virginia. She was loved by many friends and her adopted church family. Judy was cherished by everyone whose life she touched through her kindness and generosity.
Judy eventually returned to Hickory because she wanted to be close to her beloved children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She later became a resident of Springs of Catawba Nursing Home, where she received compassionate care from a staff that made her feel at home. Special thanks are extended to the many angels who cared for her during her time there.
Judy always put others before herself and showed endless love, compassion, and kindness to everyone she met.
Obituary submitted by her childhood friend, Douglas C. MacPherson.
Judy Faye Brittain
As God, our Host in Heaven,
Looks down upon us all,
Another light shines brightly,
For your mother
Has answered His call.
This day, another angel
Has made her way back home
To be with Christ forever
And never more to roam.
Her nights are now behind her
As she walks in the light of day.
No more to suffer on this earth,
For in Christ, her sins were paid.
