Julia Anne Shields

Julia Anne Shields, 71, of Hickory, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Carolina Caring Catawba Valley Hospice House. Born August 11, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Oliver McCoy Turner and Barbara Eleanor Turner.

Julia worked in many fields of nursing throughout her career, with her favorite roles being in the Emergency Room and MICN in the NICU. She had a deep love for her fur babies, her family, NASCAR, and the ocean.

Julia is survived by her two daughters, Joanna Carlisle (Terry) of Hickory and Jennie Quinlan (Troy) of Florida; her sister, Ruth Hackett of Asheville; her grandchildren, Savannah Houston (Robert), Summer Perry (Jesse), Logan Hall (Kyndall), Aubrey, Jackson, Miles, Charlie, Hunter Carlisle (Lydia), and Nathan Carlisle; her great-grandchildren, Ashton, Colton, Lilith, and Ivy; her niece, Rebecca Stewart (James); her great nieces and nephews, Jaiden, Amelia, and Gabriel; her special cousin, Mary Archer (Mark); and numerous other relatives of Massachusetts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeremy Jenkins.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
