Karl Starnes

Karl Franklin Starnes, 64, of Landis passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023 at his home. Born, December 13th, 1958 he was the son of the late John Franklin Starnes and Ruth Harwell Starnes. Karl retired as an OTR truck driver from T&D Walker Transport. Karl loved his family; he especially loved working on cars with his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, drag racing, and not only watching NASCAR but also collecting NASCAR memorabilia.

He is survived by his son Ben Starnes (Heather) and their children Scarlet Starnes and Lucy Starnes; a stepdaughter Donna Huffman (Billy Wayne) and their children Brandon W. Huffman and Michael W. Huffman; a sister-in-law Patricia Starnes of Newton (married to brother Greg Starnes); a brother-in-law David Newton of Hickory (married to sister Wanda Starnes); his beloved little dog Cricket that was by his side when he passed; his girlfriend Joyce Gantt; his "brother from another mother" Jeffrey Scott Heavner (Tina) of Hickory and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Wanda June Starnes Newton; two brothers Gregory Starnes and John Maclellan Starnes; and an infant brother Monty Dale Starnes.
