Linda Mcdaniel

August 4, 1951 — August 25, 2023

Linda Grayson McDaniel, age 72 of Newton, passed away Friday, August 25th at Catawba Valley Medical Center following a period of declining health. Born in Roanoke, Virginia on August 4th, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Noah Laston McDaniel and Elsie Shaw McDaniel.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Newton.

Linda graduated from Newton-Conover High School in 1969 and from Catawba Valley Technical Institute in 1971. She later received a Bachelor's Degree from Appalachian State University. After working at Catawba Valley Community College for many years, she retired from her position as Director of Information Services.

Linda was an avid reader and enjoyed mind-challenging games and puzzles. She loved Chihuahuas and was "mother" to several, including her most recent, "Little Man". She loved her family and friends and expressed her love through her kind and generous heart. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed in knowing her.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Steve McDaniel, her sister, Sylvia McDaniel Roth, and special friend, David Vaughn.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, JoAnna McDaniel of Oxford, NC

Nephews: Alan McDaniel of Oxford, NC and Joe Eckard (Anita) of Sherrills Ford, NC

Tamara Pope of Conover, NC, Ashley Pope of Hickory, NC, and Crystal Hauser of Conover, NC.

Great nephews: Shane Blanchard of Charlotte, NC, Chris Pope of Hickory, NC, Shannon Eckard of Claremont, NC,
and Quentin Weaver of Conover, NC.

Lifelong best friend: Treva Hager
"Adopted" niece: Tara Benfield

A Celebration of Life event for Linda Grayson McDaniel will be announced at a later date.
