Linda Kay Taylor

Linda Kay Taylor, 78, gained her beautiful angel wings in the early morning of September 17, 2026, where she lived in Lenoir, NC. She had been sick since December 2025 with dementia. She was cared for at Carolina Caring Hospice House, with her daughters by her side. The nurses there were incredibly kind and took great care of her during her final days.

Linda, lovingly known as Mama and Granny to the ones who loved her most, was born October 11, 1947, to Paul and Margaret Campbell in Asheville, NC. She was their youngest daughter, with Paul Jr. being the oldest and Lee being the middle child. Linda loved her family and loved spending time with them. She attended Lee H. Edwards High School. Once she was older, she met the love of her life, Robert Lee Taylor, and the two married. The couple shared many hobbies, such as bowling, fishing, and attending NASCAR races. The couple also shared two beautiful daughters, Malinda Taylor and Cheryl Taylor.

Linda was a devoted mother and wife, but once her daughters were older, Linda went back to school to become an RN and worked for St. Joseph's Hospital in Asheville, NC, for 20 years. She loved her patients and being at the bedside with them.

Malinda gave Linda two beautiful, smart, funny, and loving grandchildren, Amber and TJ, who were her pride and joy. Being Granny to them was her greatest love and passion. Amber Rogers, along with husband Delane Rogers, gave her a great-grandson, Greyson (who was Granny's boy), and TJ Embler, along with wife Karissa Embler, gave her Kelli, Maci, and Lexi (Granny's 3 beautiful princesses). Linda loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Linda also loved the ocean, flower gardening, and all of her grand-kitties.

Linda was taken care of by Cheryl since the start of her illness, and Malinda would like to extend the deepest thank you! Cheryl and Malinda would also like to say a heartfelt thank you to Alivia Ashley, who came into their lives at a very devastating time to help care for Linda. Alivia worked tirelessly day in and day out, putting her own life on hold at times. She worked alongside Cheryl to provide a high level of health care to Linda. She also gave love and support to both Linda and Cheryl (and their kitties) during Linda's final months. She became more than a health care provider to them; she has become part of the family.

Linda is preceded in death by her father, mother, brother, and her husband. We all know that she was extremely happy to see all of the ones who passed before her when she got to Heaven. She is survived by her sister, Lee Congdon; her two daughters; her two grandchildren; and her 4 great-grandchildren.

Linda's contagious smile, spunky attitude, and wit will be missed, along with her other great qualities, but we know that she is walking those streets of gold and watching over her family until we meet again.
