Margaret Ann Franklin Grant

Margaret Ann Franklin Grant, 81, of Hickory, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born July 6th, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Cobeurn Franklin and Cordie Lee Woodie Franklin. 

She grew up with very little, but from those humble beginnings blossomed into the sweetest and kindest woman you could ever meet. A devout Christian, she lived her faith quietly and sincerely, offering love, comfort, and encouragement to everyone around her. She cherished her family and her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. A devoted homemaker, she created a warm and welcoming home filled with love, laughter, and grace.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Chris Grant, Steven Grant, Amanda Gardner, and Renne Grant; her sisters, Norma Moyer, Teana Rowe, and Susie Wood; her brother, Rick Franklin; her life partner, Richard Towery; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Buren Grant Jr.; her son, Larry Cannon; her sisters, Shirley Newman, Carrie Benfield, Pasty Little, and Carolyn Pugh; and her brothers, Gary Franklin and Monroe Franklin.

The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
