Marie Jenney Elkins

Marie Jenney Elkins, 84, of Morganton, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2026, at UNC Health Blue Ridge. Born September 5, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Smith and Thelma Smith.

Marie was a devoted homemaker, mother, and loving caregiver. She took great pride in caring for her family and home and found joy in gardening, yard work, and cooking for those she loved. Her nurturing spirit will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her sons, Virgil Elkins, Bobby Elkins, and Robert Elkins; her daughter, Elizabeth Elkins; her family dogs, Dolly and Dixie; and her cat, Tied.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Sherrill Elkins; her daughters, Betty Lou Elkins and Patricia Ann Elkins; and her step-daughter, Wendy Elkins.
