Michael Lawrence Holman, 73, of Hickory passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born November 20th, 1951, he was the son of the late Jeri Pritchard Triplett and Richard Max Triplett
Mike proudly served in the United States Navy as a Missile Technician MT3, spending much of his service in California. After many years out West, he was grateful to return to his roots in the North Carolina mountains, where he found great joy in reconnecting with the place he always considered home.
A lifelong learner and avid reader, Mike had a deep passion for history, but his bookshelf was equally likely to hold detective stories or science fiction and fantasy series. He was a dedicated film buff who never missed an episode of Game of Thrones.
Mike also had a strong love for the outdoors. He often reminisced about his time in the Pacific Northwest, where he explored national parks on his motorcycle and developed a keen interest in holistic health and natural remedies. So if there was an ailment or condition, Mike knew a supplement for it!
He is survived by his sisters, Lynne Triplett Jenkins of Hickory, NC, and Amy Triplett of Stevensville, MD; his nieces and nephews, Erin Leigh Setzer of Claremont, NC, Bille Nicole Jenkins of Hickory, NC, and Aidan Michael Malone of Riva, MD; his great-nephews, Kaden Pennel and Jullien Pennel both of Claremont, NC; and his aunt and uncle, Charles and Dolores Smith of Lenoir, NC.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeri Pritchard Triplett, and his stepfather, Richard Max Triplett.
There will be a burial with military honors on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Foothills Veterans Helping Veterans at PO Box 404, Newton, NC, 28658 or through their website at https://www.foothillsveteranshelpingveterans.com/help-veterans-hickory-nc/.
