Michael John Metz II

Michael John Metz II, 74, of Hickory, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Carolina Caring Catawba Valley Hospice House.

Born on Saturday, February 10, 1951, Michael was the son of the late Michael John Metz and Florence Hotaling Metz. A hardworking and dedicated man, he spent over 40 years working for Verizon telephone company, where he built a career marked by loyalty, knowledge, and commitment.

Michael had a passion for the outdoors and technology alike. He enjoyed fishing, had a love for firearms, and took great interest in computers —hobbies that reflected his curious and hands-on spirit.

He is survived by his children, Carmela Fitzpatrick (Michael), Michele Metz, Michael J. Metz III (Rhonda), Meaghan McGuire (John), Matthew Metz, and Christina Metz-Crowley (Michael); as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
