Norman K. Swanson

Norman K. Swanson, 64, of Newton, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born on March 13, 1961, he was the son of the late George F. Swanson Jr. and Jo Neva McGee.

Norman was a devoted husband, loving father, proud Pawpaw, and loyal brother. A United States Navy veteran, he served his country with honor and carried that same sense of duty into everything he did. He was an avid fisherman who found peace and joy on the water. Known for his sharp wit, big heart, and unwavering loyalty, Norman was truly one of a kind — funny as crap, smart as a whip, and loved by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy F. Swanson; his sons, Joshua Swanson and Brian Felts-Swanson (Tabatha); and his cherished grandchildren, Brian, Willow Jo, Alexis, MaKayla, Peyton, Spencer, Haley, and Zach. He is also survived by his siblings, JB, Carson, Revonda, Yolanda, and Greg, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Fred, Brian, Ida, Frank, Idgor, Freda, and Shane.

Norman’s legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind as he has reunited with Grandma Jo, "the best mother in the world."
