Patricia Louise Garlinghouse

Patricia Louise Garlinghouse, 85, of Hickory passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Carolina Caring Catawba Valley Hospice House. Born March 11th, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Alvin John Long and Florence Louise Long.

Patricia had a lifelong passion for public access media and served as Executive Director of Austin Community Television, Houston Media Source, and WNC Media Center in Asheville, North Carolina. Patricia also had a deep love for animals and was especially devoted to her beloved cat, Chai.

She is survived by her husband, Albert Garlinghouse of Hickory, NC; her two brothers, John Long (Maryla) and Emil Long, both of Florida; her two sons, John E. Garlinghouse (Tracy) of Belmont, NC and Paul A. Garlinghouse of New Haven, Connecticut; eight grandchildren, Andrew Garlinghouse of Texas, Adrian Garlinghouse of Hickory, Sophia Welch (Brad), Willow Garlinghouse of Providence, Rhode Island, Lake Garlinghouse of New Haven, Connecticut, Liam Garlinghouse of Hickory, Ethan Garlinghouse of Hickory, and Abigail Garlinghouse of Hickory; and five great-grandchildren Benjamin Andreassen, Oliver Andreassen, Jackson Welch, Olivia Welch, and Sophia Welch.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her youngest sister, Nancy Long.
