Patti Poovey Forbes

We are saddened to announce the passing of Patti Reid Poovey Forbes of Granite Falls, NC, on December 14, 2024, at the age of 68.

Patti, known to many as Mrs. Forbes, blessed the lives of children throughout the years as both the Director of MECCOM Daycare and as a teacher’s assistant at Jenkins Elementary School. Patti loved nothing more than spending time with her friends and family, taking pictures of the sunset from her back porch, and feeding the animals that gathered in the woods next to her home.

Patti could light up a room. Her smile and laugh were contagious, and she had the most gracious and giving heart. She will be deeply missed.

The daughter of James “Mutt” Reid and Virginia Rice Reid, she is survived by her husband, Stephen Forbes; her daughters, Kristin Benfield (Richy), Stephanie McKinnon (Justin), and Elizabeth Link (Ryan); her granddaughter, Ansley Benfield (love sponge); and her best friend, Julia Carter Starnes (Joe), forever and always.

Because Patti was so well loved, the family has chosen to forego a service at this time. There will be a celebration of life once their hearts have had some time to heal.
