Paul "Andy" Newton

Paul "Andy" Andrew Newton, 59, of Hickory passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Carolina Caring Catawba Valley Hospice House. Born May 7th, 1964 he was the son of David Paul Newton and Wanda Starnes Newton. Andy loved his children and his entire family. His kind and humble nature knew no bounds, as he readily offered assistance to anyone in need, often going above and beyond to lend a helping hand. Known for his infectious sense of humor, Paul, fondly known as Andy, had a remarkable ability to make everyone around him laugh. With a smile always on his face, he brought joy to those fortunate enough to know him. He was like a leaf in the wind, embracing life’s journey with enthusiasm and an unwavering positivity.

Andy had a passion for connecting with people, engaging in lively conversations about history and various intellectual pursuits. His knowledge and passion for learning were evident to all of those around him. He cherished meeting individuals who shared his interests, forming meaningful connections that enriched his life.

He worked for PP Painting, based out of North Augusta. His career took him across the Eastern United States, where he applied his talents in painting and construction. Outside of work, Paul indulged in his passion for collecting and trading coins. His enthusiasm for this hobby kept him engaged and fulfilled, reflecting his vibrant and multifaceted personality.

Andy is survived by his father David Newton of Hickory; a sister Deborah Walker (Tim) of Bethlehem Community; four children Desiree, Patrick, Paul, and Maxwell; nieces and nephews John Ellis (Kesha) of Conover, Tamara Weldon (Ryan) of Hickory, Misty Cascio (Jordan) of Hickory, and Jeff Ellis of Bethlehem Community; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Wanda Newton.

The funeral will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. with John Ellis officiating. The family will receive friends beginning an hour before the service, from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM at the Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658.
