Perry Edward Godwin

Perry Edward Godwin, 65, of Conover, North Carolina, passed away on March 30, 2026.

Perry was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria Godwin; his daughter, Vanessa Fogarty (Michael); his stepson, Michael Gallup (Sonja); and his cherished grandchildren, Aiden, Victoria, Grayson, Noah, and Morgan, who brought him immense joy and happiness.

Perry dedicated much of his career as a shipping manager, where his strong work ethic and reliability earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike. Outside of work, he was known for his vibrant personality. Perry never met a stranger—he was social, caring, and incredibly generous, always ready with a story, a laugh, or a helping hand.

He truly loved life and the people in it. Whether gathering with friends or spending time with family, Perry found joy in connection, conversation, and making others feel welcome.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 10th at 1:00 PM at Bethany United Church of Christ in Claremont. Following the service, family and friends are invited to stay for a meal and fellowship as they honor Perry in the way he would have loved most—surrounded by good food, good people, and plenty of laughter.

Perry’s warmth, kindness, and unforgettable spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
