Richard John Eansor Jr.

August 17, 1968 — June 29, 2025

Hickory

Richard John Eansor, Jr., was born in Livonia, Michigan on August 17, 1968, grew up in Farmington, Michigan, and passed away on June 29th, 2025 at his home in Hickory, North Carolina. He was 56.

Anyone who knew Richard “Rick”, “Ricky” knows that he had a wicked wit and the gift of gab - he was never at a loss for words, so a lull in the conversation was certainly not an issue with Rick around. He was also intelligent, especially well versed in history, and loved to share the facts and his point of view. He had a kind heart. He rescued more than a few cats who had shown up at his door and is survived by 3 of them.

After Rick’s recovery from a life-threatening and debilitating experience with Covid in 2020, he bought a house and worked as a handyman.

He also attended school, studying for a degree in Information Technology (IT).

Rick is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Laura Bassette, of Hickory, NC; his sister, Susan Eggleston, her husband, Brian Eggleston of Westborough, MA, and children, Jason Hamilton, Shauna Hamilton and Kristin Bannon; his sister, Sheri Donovan, her husband, Darren Eggleston of Westlake Village, CA, and their son, Max Eggleston; his sister Pamela “Pammy” Burton, her husband, Allen Burton of Hickory, NC, and children Justin Spaller, Ashley Moose, Jordan Spaller and Trey Burton.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Monica “Micky” Jusczcyk; his father, Richard Eansor, Sr.; his stepfather, Casmer Jusczcyk; and his nephew, Austen Spaller.
