Robert Townsend

Robert Wayne Townsend, 70, of Taylorsville passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at his home. Born May 30th, 1954, he was the son of Max Henry Townsend and Betty Jean Watts Townsend.

Robert was passionate about racing, especially drag racing, and an avid fan of football and baseball. He enjoyed camping and fishing, often sharing memorable moments fishing with his nephew Cetrick. Though he often tried to present a tough exterior, those close to him knew that he was sweet and caring underneath the tough exterior.

He is survived by a sister Michele Shoup; a brother Charlie Townsend (Kathy); three nephews Cetrick Townsend, Shane Houston, and Scott Bolick; and two great-nieces Hailey and Emily.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a sister Patricia Bolick (Steve), and Vanessa D. Fairbanks (Tim); and a niece Jennifer Shoup.
