Ronald Garland "Buck" Meeks

Ronald Garland “Buck” Meeks, 87, of Hickory, NC, passed away peacefully at home on September 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.

Born in Leaksville, NC, on October 19, 1937, Buck was the son of the late Marshall and Annie Meeks. He graduated from Morehead High School in 1956 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1962. He married Yvonne Younts Meeks in 1962, and they shared 63 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, Yvonne, he is survived by two daughters, Angela Hibbard (David) and Rhonda Gardner (Keith); grandchildren, Nathanael Gardner (Victoria), Abigail Hibbard Jolley (Andrew), Anna Gardner Fletcher (Lance), William Hibbard, Samuel Gardner, and Elizabeth Hibbard Nichols (Jacob); 9 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Myra Meeks Lee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Meeks, and his sister, Carole Anne Meeks Archer.

Buck enjoyed his pets, telling humorous stories, fishing at the beach, running marathons, cooking, and listening to country music.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Fair Funeral Home, 432 Boone Rd., Eden, NC, 27288.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to Hospice at Carolina Caring at 3975 Robinson Rd. Newton, NC 28658.
