Ross George Staiger

Ross George Staiger, 82, formerly of Rockville, CT, passed away on September 4, 2026. Born October 4, 1943, he was the son of the late Lawrence Edward Staiger and Elsie Marie (Miller) Staiger of Rockville, CT.

Ross was a strong, hardworking man who proudly served his country for seven years in the Army National Guard. He was the former CEO of CONTROMATICS in East Hartford, CT. Following the company’s merger with Watts Industries, Ross and his family relocated to NH. Years later, retirement brought him to South Carolina.

Ross loved fishing, whether on the ocean off Rhode Island or fly-fishing the rivers of CT with his brothers and longtime high school friend, Joe Koss. Playing cards and cornhole with the guys and watching the UConn Huskies men’s and women’s basketball teams were favorite pastimes. Later in life, golf became his passion.

During retirement, Ross and Sandra opened the next chapter of their lives with a move to Aiken, South Carolina, where they enjoyed exploring the Carolinas, and most recently made their home in Hickory, North Carolina.

Ross is survived by his loving wife Sandra Staiger; his daughters, Christie Staiger of Tolland, CT, Amy Staiger of New Harbor, ME, and Tracey (Staiger) Ferrero of Boulder, Colorado; his twin stepsons, Steven Chiarizio and his wife, Linda, of Millis, MA, and Kevin Chiarizio and his wife, Karen, of Nashua, NH; and his brothers, Gary Staiger of Tolland, CT, and Alan Staiger of Vernon, CT. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Ross was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Paul Strycharz, who worked alongside Ross for many years at CONTROMATICS and introduced him to Sandra, his wife of 38 years.

Ross will be lovingly remembered for his unwavering integrity, strength, and kindness. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His kind and generous nature will be remembered by all who knew him.

Ross will return home to Rockville, CT, for a graveside service with family at Grove Hill Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest.
