Sidney Bernard Walker

Sidney Bernard Walker, 63, of Hickory passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025 at his home. Born August 12th, 1961 he was the son of Nathaniel Shortie Walker and Mamie Ella Elmore Walker. A proud Hickory High School alum, he brought heart, humor, and a helping hand wherever he went. Whether working with Eneco or tinkering around as a gifted handyman, he was always the guy who could fix just about anything with a smile and probably a joke or two. His sense of humor lit up every room, and his quick wit made him a natural-born jokester. He had a special place in his heart for his "cowboy pictures" and playing chess. He was an undefeated player amongst his friends and family. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, and connection.

He is survived by his significant other Rusty N. Keller of Hickory, NC; a sister Faye Butler of Hickory, NC; two brothers Jewel Walker of Morganton, NC and Christopher Walker of Hickory, NC; five children Lashanda Streeter of Hickory, NC, Sidney B. Walker Jr. of Charlotte, NC, Natrae Yarber (Michael) of Thomasville, NC, Jeremiah Walker of Hickory, NC, and Vanessa Walker of Hickory; six grandchildren Ahmad Smith, Jasieh Tipps, Jayden Walker, Jazyan Streeter, Alectra Lawrence, Michaela Yarber; and special friends Robert Jones, Christopher Holmes, Robert Long, and David Snider.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother Walter T. Elmore and a sister Sandra Ramseur.
