Steven Davis

Steven "Squeak" Michael Davis, 45, of Shelby, NC passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, at his home. Born August 15, 1978, he was the son of the late Michael Garfield Davis and Carol Sue Davis. Steven had a true knack for anything mechanical. He loved working on anything with a motor and was gifted enough to hotwire and sneak his dad's motorcycle out of the garage without him ever knowing! Later in life, he worked as a lineman and held great pride in his work. Steven enjoyed spending time outdoors in trees, on the line poles, and fishing. He will be greatly missed by those left to cherish his memory.

He is survived by his two sons Thomas Stemplinski and CJ McKinney of Fayetteville, WV; a brother Dennis Ray Davis (Kim) of Fayetteville, WV; a sister Belinda Nichols (Jason) of Lapeer, MI; three grandchildren Catherine McKinney, Mason McKinney and Stella Stemplinski of Fayetteville, WV; a niece Rhianna Nichols; and six nephews Luca Amicucci, Daniel Amicucci, Nicky Amicucci, Zander Nichols, Gabriel Nichols, and Jude Nichols.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a niece Nevaeh Rayne Davis.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

My life's journey ended early,
The path I chose was short.
You all tried your best to change it,
But in the end it was for me to sort.

I know I caused you sadness,
I know I caused you pain,
But I was captured by these demons,
They wouldn't set me free again.

They took away my freedom,
They took away my choice,
And when they got their hooks in,
You could hear it in my voice.

There were times I tried to fight them,
There was a time I nearly won,
But they came back and overpowered me,
I had nowhere left to run.

I haven't really left you guys,
I am closer than you know,
I will be the whisper in the wind,
I will be everywhere you go.

One day you will forgive me
One day you will understand
And when your time on earth is done
I will be waiting to take your hand.
